This is the selfie I took on the bus home from work today, to text to my hairdresser so she could see how much my hair has grown. Not enough on top yet to do much with apparently, but I'm not seeing her for a month so there's plenty of time for her to come up with some cool styles. Even now I guess I could always shave a pattern in the side or something...
Since last week my sponsorship has increased to £954 - only £46 to go to my target of £1000. I must say I am quite amazed by people's generosity, and interested that shaving my head has raised much more than I have ever raised by running 5 or even 10 kilometres.
One friend commented that it was a great improvement - he was joking, but as the comment came with a £20 donation I let him get away with it. I had lunch with another friend whose hair was about the same length as mine, which brought me back to reflecting on why it's acceptable for men, but somehow quite shocking for a woman to have so little hair. Maybe it's something to do with men going bald more frequently than women?
Anyway, I think it's time to bring this blog to an end. I'm pretty sure I'm going to make it to £1000 now, and I'm off to India on holiday the week after next, and am planning to write about that. If you've enjoyed watching and reading about my head-shave experience, and haven't got around to donating yet, please do it now, and help me get there.

A week's growth
25 July 2014 1 August 2014
Look how much my hair has grown in only a week! And with the hair, the total donated for Macmillan Cancer Support has also grown!
On 25 July, when my head was shaved, I had already raised £250 in sponsorship.
The total donated up to today is £754.79 and I have been promised another £65.
That leaves only £180.21 to reach my target of £1000.
So if you've been meaning to donate and haven't got round to it yet - please do it now! Every little helps.
